# Welcome to Instasent

What Instasent is and how work is organised in the dashboard.

**Language:** en
**Audience:** platform
**TLDR:** Instasent is a customer-communication platform where all activity is organised within projects. Each project holds an audience of contacts and segments, and lets you send campaigns, set up automations, and message contacts over the SMS and RCS channels.

Instasent is the platform you use to reach your customers over SMS and RCS. The
idea is simple: bring your contacts together in one place —wherever they come
from— and message them, whether that's a one-off campaign or an automation that
fires on its own.

It all happens in the dashboard: you import or sync contacts, group them into
segments, send campaigns, set up automations and see how each send performs in
your analytics. And if you would rather work in code, the
[APIs](/developers/overview) expose the same concepts and the same data as the
dashboard.

## How the dashboard is organised

Everything in Instasent revolves around the **project**: it's the container for
your work. Most organisations use one project per brand, country or line of
business, and each one keeps its own audience, data sources, segments, campaigns,
automations, channels, senders, analytics and settings — never mixed with the
others.

Inside the project, the **audience** brings together all your contacts, with their
attributes and events. On top of that audience you build **segments** — dynamic
groups that recalculate on their own based on who currently meets their conditions
— and use them to send **campaigns** or trigger **automations**. And above it all
sits the **AI assistant**, which queries your project data and this documentation
to help you understand your audience, answer questions and act on it.

For the full mental model — what each piece is and where it's managed in the
dashboard — read [Concepts](/platform/en/overview/concepts). To go from an
empty account to your first send, follow the
[Start guide](/platform/en/overview/start-guide).

*The project dashboard brings it all together — revenue, delivery and engagement across every channel, attributed back to your messaging.*
