Contacts
The contact profile gathers everything Instasent knows about one person — identity, commercial insights, last purchases, activity timeline, attributes, data composition, channel preferences, tags and segments — and lets you edit what's editable, send a quick SMS, create a contact by hand or delete one.
A contact's profile brings together everything Instasent knows about one person in your audience, on a single screen. Open it from the audience table by clicking a contact's name: you see who they are, how they behave commercially and what they've done over time, without hopping between screens. It holds their identity, their commercial insights, what they last bought, their activity timeline, their attributes, the data sources behind them, their subscription status per channel, and the tags and segments they belong to.
The header
The top of the profile shows the contact's initials avatar, their name (or No name if it's unknown), their location and when they were last active. Two controls sit here:
- Actions — a menu with Delete user (see Deleting a contact).
- Send message — opens a quick SMS composer (see Sending a quick SMS). It's disabled when the contact has no mobile phone, since there's nowhere to send to.
Insights
The Insights card shows commercial figures for the period you choose (the selector at the top of the card). Two figures always appear: Campaigns sent and Clicks, along with the resulting CTR.
For an e-commerce project, the card also shows Orders, Amount, Average order and Abandoned carts, each with a trend compared to the previous period. These e-commerce figures only appear when the project has order data.
Last purchases
For e-commerce projects, the Last purchases strip answers what this person actually buys. It sits between Insights and Activity, and holds up to 12 different products taken from their most recent purchases.
Each card carries the product photo, its name, the amount paid for it and the date of the purchase. When they took more than one unit, a ×N badge appears over the photo, and the amount is the total for that line — not the unit price — whenever the purchase arrives with that figure. Clicking the card opens the product in a new tab; if the purchase carried no link to the product page, it takes you to the store instead.
A repeat customer doesn't fill the strip with the same item: each product appears once, with their most recent purchase of it, so what you see is the variety of what they buy. Drag the strip sideways for the rest, or use the arrows that appear at the edges.
The strip is fed by the product purchases that reach Instasent, so it only appears when the contact has some. Watch out for one case that catches people out: a contact can show Orders in Insights and still not get a strip, because those orders arrived without the detail of which products they contained.
Activity
The Activity card is the contact's timeline of events — placed orders, coupons used, campaign deliveries and clicks, profile updates and more — newest first. You can shape it:
- Period — choose Last 30 days (the default), Last 90 days or Last 12 months. If a period has no events, Instasent automatically widens it so you still see activity.
- Date basis — toggle between the event's own date (Event date) and when Instasent received it (Reception date).
- Event types — a multi-select to show only certain kinds of event, with All events, Clear selected events and a Recommended events preset. E-commerce events only appear for e-commerce projects.
Order and checkout events expand inline with More details, and clicking any event opens a side drawer with its full breakdown — event parameters, attribution (UTM) and general info (event ID, type, dates, data source and contact).
Activity events are read-only. They're a record of what happened, fed by your data sources and the API, so they can't be edited by hand. What each event type means and where events come from is covered in Attributes & events.
The sidebar
The right sidebar groups the contact's data into collapsible sections.
Attributes
The fields you know about the contact. Known since and Last seen sit at the top and are read-only. Below them the main attributes are shown first (name, email, phone, country, city, company, …), with Show N attributes to reveal the rest.
You can edit a value with the pencil next to it — the input matches the attribute's type (a currency or language picker, a phone field, a Yes/No toggle, a country picker, a date picker, or plain text). Read-only and system-computed fields show a lock instead and can't be edited. Click a value to copy it to the clipboard; a value that's a URL opens in a new tab.
For an e-commerce contact, a Predictive analytics block summarises their last order, the last order amount (shown as Last spent), average days between orders and predicted next order.
Data composition
A read-only breakdown of which data sources make up this contact's data, each with the percentage it contributes, and when the contact was last updated.
Channel preferences
The contact's subscription status per channel — a row each for SMS/RCS, Email and WhatsApp, with two columns:
- Subscribed — whether the channel is active for this contact at all (a full suppression checkbox).
- Accepts marketing — whether they accept marketing on that channel. This is a three-state checkbox: checked (Yes), unchecked (No), or indeterminate, shown as No preference when it has never been set.
These checkboxes edit one contact by hand — useful to honour an unsubscribe requested by phone, or to reactivate a contact who asks to come back.
Tags and Segments
Tags are free labels you apply to the contact: add one in the New tag field (spaces become hyphens), remove one with its ✕. Segments lists the segments this contact currently matches; clicking one navigates to that segment. Both collapse after the first few entries.
Sending a quick SMS
Send message opens a quick SMS composer with the conversation history for this contact and a sender picker. It's a fast way to message one person without creating a campaign. It's SMS only, and it's disabled when the contact has no mobile phone.
Creating a contact by hand
From the audience table, Add contacts › Add contact opens a form to create one contact manually. The fields are first and last name (optional, 2 to 50 characters each), email, country (defaulting to Spain), cellphone and gender, plus Subscribed to SMS and Subscribed to Email checkboxes (on by default).
Deleting a contact
You can delete a contact from the Actions › Delete user menu on the profile, with a confirmation. Deleting removes the person and their data from the project. It isn't a way to stop messaging someone — for that, unsubscribe or suppress them instead (see Consent).
There is no "merge two contacts" button on the profile — unification happens automatically through unique attributes.
