ActiveCampaign
Connect an ActiveCampaign account as a data source: the API URL and API key it needs, the contacts and activities it syncs, how its fields map to Instasent attributes, and how to map its marketing status to consent.
ActiveCampaign is the native connector for the ActiveCampaign marketing automation platform. Once connected, it imports your contacts and activities into Instasent and keeps them synchronized, so your audience and your ActiveCampaign activity stay current.
How to connect
ActiveCampaign connects with an API key: you find your API credentials in ActiveCampaign and paste them into Instasent. You provide two values — your API Url and your API Key.
Find your API credentials in ActiveCampaign
In ActiveCampaign, open your developer settings. Copy the API Url (it looks like
youraccountname.api-us1.com) and the API Key.Add the data source
In Data sources, select Add data source and choose ActiveCampaign from the Integrations section.
Enter your credentials and connect
On the Connect step, fill in your API Url and API Key, then connect.
Initial import
The connector imports your existing contacts and activities, then keeps syncing periodically.
After connecting, the wizard continues through Mapping, Merge and Tags, the same steps as a CSV import.
What it syncs
- Contacts — your ActiveCampaign contacts, with name, email and phone.
- Activities — contact activity, brought in as events for use in segments and automations.
The direction is one-way, from ActiveCampaign into Instasent, with a periodic sync that keeps contacts current. ActiveCampaign automations can also post contacts to Instasent through a webhook as they happen. Contacts unify by email and phone — see unification.
Field mapping
ActiveCampaign contact fields map to the matching Instasent attributes (email to
_email, phone to _phone_mobile, name fields to theirs), and activity data arrives as
events. Confirm the mapping on setup; see
field mapping.
Consent mapping
Map ActiveCampaign's marketing status to Instasent's marketing-preference attribute
(_accepts_marketing_*) following the consent golden rule:

Only an active opt-out becomes false. A contact with no recorded marketing status
maps to no preference (null), never to false. See
