Google Contacts
Connect Google Contacts as a data source: authorize with your Google account, the contacts it imports and keeps synchronized, how its fields map to Instasent attributes, and how consent is handled.
Google Contacts is the native connector for your Google address book. Once authorized, it imports your Google contacts into Instasent and keeps them synchronized periodically, so the people in your Google account become part of your audience without any manual export.
How to connect
Google Contacts is a native OAuth connector: you authorize Instasent with your Google account and grant the requested permission in Google's own window, and you're connected. Instasent only requests permission to read your Google contacts — nothing else. There's no key to create or copy anywhere.
Add the data source
In Data sources, select Add data source and choose Google Contacts from the Integrations section.
Connect your Google account
Select Connect Google account to open Google's authorization window and approve the requested access. Only read permission for your Google contacts is requested.
Initial import
Google returns you to Instasent and the source moves to connected. The connector imports your existing contacts, then re-reads them periodically to pick up changes.
What it syncs
- Contacts — the people in your Google address book, with their name, email and phone.
The sync is one-way, from Google into Instasent, and runs periodically. Contacts unify with the rest of your audience by email and phone, the same as any source — see unification.
Field mapping
Google contact fields map to the matching Instasent attributes — email to _email,
phone to _phone_mobile, name fields to their attributes. As with any source you
confirm the mapping on setup; see
field mapping.
Consent mapping
Google Contacts does not carry a marketing subscription status, so map it to Instasent's
marketing-preference attribute (_accepts_marketing_*) following the consent golden
rule:
| Google status | Instasent value | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Opted in | true | Accepted marketing |
| No status | null | No preference — never opted in or out |
| Opted out | false | Actively declined marketing |
Only an active opt-out becomes false. A contact with no recorded status maps to
no preference (null), never to false. For what these values mean for who receives
a campaign, see Consent.
