Countries & regulation

There's no single messaging rule for the whole world: each country sets its own, and that rule often covers more than one channel at once — a single sender registration can work for both SMS and RCS to the same country. This section gathers those per-country specifics. The ones that need more than a note get their own page, and the list grows as we add coverage.

Where to check requirements for your sender

The requirements that apply to your sender are shown in the panel: open a sender to see which destinations are approved and which need registration, and use Request country to add one. See SMS senders & registration and RCS senders & verification. If a country you need isn't listed, contact support.

What can happen on SMS

In most destinations there is nothing to do: you create your sender and you send. That is the case in 105 of the 216 countries we reach. The rest fall into three situations, and the table below tells you which one yours is in.

Replaced by a number — The country doesn't accept text names as senders, so your message arrives from a number. There is nothing to register — what you lose is your brand in the sender field, and a brand prefix keeps your name visible inside the text.

Accepted once registered — The operator requires your sender to be registered before it accepts it as yours. We file it from what you request in the panel. You can send meanwhile: until it is approved, messages go out best-effort — sent and billed, but the recipient may see a sender other than yours, and the message can be filtered. Registering is what turns that into your brand arriving.

Regulator registration — On top of the operator, a public body is involved, with legal deadlines and a formal filing. The cell names the regulator. Today only Spain, with the CNMC.

What RCS registration may ask for

On RCS the sender is always registered per country. What changes is what each market asks for on top — and it comes in a handful of shapes, so knowing them means nothing takes you by surprise, whichever destination you are going to.
